Villa 15 is a 7200 sq.ft. retreat home set on a 12000 sq.ft. plot located on the mountain range of khandala, Maharashtra. Surrounded by mountains on its east and south boundaries the site has a little seasonal rivulet on its northern edge.

The Minimal language of this project emerges from the intersecting walls (defining the zones) that are imagined as “incisions” in the landscape.

The Wall envelopes the Grid to form a roof, unfolds itself as Pergolas and skylights when we experience the spaces from inside.

The planning of the spaces in the house has been specifically done with a sense of openness. The urge to achieve a modern design and carve outdoor spaces for an interaction with nature. A stepped entry walks you to the entrance of the house, a double height sky lit shaft and a bridge overlooking onto the entrance. The walls intersecting unfold elements and functions of the house in the family spaces. The cantilevered staircase holds onto the central wall dividing the living from the dining space. The living space overlooks the pool and the lawn overlooking the little stream. The private spaces are nudged on the first floor with a family space and a terrace overlooking the lawn and pool. The planning revolves around the larger terraces shaded with pergola roof and accentuates the waterfall into the pool from the first floor. Use of local materials and an organic plan emphasizes in utilizing the natural light and ventilation in abundance in this house.
